You could use this same lesson in an elementary classroom, but with a different approach. A classroom tree, students would trace their hands and their hands would be the leaves on the tree. Each student would create a hand representing themselves.
Another classroom activity would be working art into the language art class. Students could create a personal poem and they can only use other material besides their writing utensils to write their poem. A word could be represented by a picture and they could use clippings from other paper products.

Personal Footprint
Footprint
This is a story of my life in a footprint. The materials I used in this project were tissue paper, magazine article, cotton ball, scrapbooking stickers, gems, and a wedding announcement.
My favorite season is fall and the tree was made from various colors of tissue paper.
I love boating with my family; the sun is a painted cotton ball and the boat is a scrapbooking sticker.
I have been coast to coast in a car and my family farms. The gems represent by love for sparkle. Great project for teachers to get to know their students in a creative way!
