This is a clay coiled pot. First you start by getting all the bubbles out of the clay. After the bubbles are all out you begin making your pot. I created the base which is about at big as the plum of my hand and about a half of inch think. After that was complete I began rolling out my coils. Be sure to keep the rolls even. Once I was ready to begin place the coils on the base I had to make slits that bound the coils together. Continue rolling and binding the coils until all clay is used. Once you are finish you want to smooth the inside of the pot. I used water and fingers to smooth out the coils in the inside. I let dry over night and then painted on my design.
Extension:
Have students write a compare and contrast paper with the different types of pots used today and back than. You could also ask the students how they would use the pots that they created.
