In this project we created a South Dakota sceenwith a railroad. The rail cars were made with a technique called print making. I stated out by making a design in a foam square. As I was making the design I was making sure that I did not press to hard. Once my design was complete I used a print making color and rolled it onto the square foam, making sure not to get to thick. Don't want the ink to leak in the cracks on your design. Once rolled on the design I then stamped the square on a black piece of construction paper. When dry I cut out the boxes and added wheels.
Extension:
I think that it would be great for each student to make their own giant rail car. The rail car design would have to be away of the student to introduce themselves to the class. Once each student makes their rail car the teacher could connect the cars around the room. It would be a great activity for the students and teacher to get to know each other.
